Wild Earth Farm and Sanctuary is proud to offer the second annual Vegan Permaculture Design Certificate Course at our 200 acre farm in Eastern Kentucky at the foothills of Appalachia. Along with Heather Patrick and Joe Kilcoyne (founders of Wild Earth), the team putting this class together, have many decades of ecological vegan living and experience to share.

The internationally-recognized, 72-hour Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) course yields the Permaculture Design Certificate. The course serves as an introduction to permaculture design as developed by concept co-creator Bill Mollison, which opens the door to further practice, work and advanced education.

This course will include classroom time and hands-on experience.

Graham Burnett | Vegan Permaculture

Graham Burnett founded Spiralseed in 2001 and is the author of Permaculture A Beginners Guide and The Vegan Book of Permaculture. He teaches permaculture and works with projects and organizations including Comic Relief, Capital Growth, Bioregional, Naturewise, OrganicLea, Birmingham Decoy, Trust Links, Green Adventure, the Vegan Organic Network, Thrive, Ars Terra (Los Angeles), Ekosense EcoVillage (Croatia) as well as a number of Transition Town initiatives. As well as cultivating his own garden and allotments, Graham contributes to publications as diverse as Positive News, The Sunday Times, Permaculture Magazine, Permaculture Activist, New Leaves, The Raven, Growing Green, Funky Raw, The Vegan and The Idler.

William Faith | Vegan Permaculture

William Faith completed his certification in permaculture design at the Ecovillage Training Center at The Farm in Summertown, TN in 2006, shortly after which he co-founded Ars Terra, a sustainable homestead project in Palmdale, CA, where he taught several permaculture courses and workshops before moving to Chicago, where he co-founded the Chicagoland Permaculture Guild in 2012, and has given many presentations on permaculture at colleges, universities, eco/green fairs and festivals and private events, also giving several radio interviews on the subject. 2015 heralds the birth of Genius Loci Permaculture, a full-service Design, Build and Education firm.

Bob Hattier | Alternative Currents
Bob Hattier is a NABCEP Certified PV Installation ProfessionalTM and Master Electrician who has a dedicated passion for renewable energy. He has worked on systems in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Washington and Costa Rica. An IREC Master TrainerTM, he develops and teaches courses for The Midwest Renewable Energy Association and IBEW Local 134. Bob serves on the board of directors for the MREA and NABCEP. Additionally he is the owner of Alternative Currents, Inc. a renewable energy design and installation company based in Chicago. Bob holds a Permaculture Design Certificate from Spiralseed.

 

Heather Patrick | Wild Earth Sanctuary

 Heather Patrick is Co-Founder of Wild Earth Farm and Sanctuary. Heather grew up passionate for taking care of plants and animals on her family's organic farm and small animal sanctuary in Pennsylvania. She has spent years living abroad in Africa, Asia, and Central America, studying sustainable agriculture and working with various nonprofit animal protection and social justice organizations. Heather holds a Permaculture Design Certificate from Spiralseed.


 

Joe Kilcoyne | Wild Earth Farm

 Joe Kilcoyne holds permaculture design certificates from Midwest Permaculture located in Stelle, IL and from Spiralseed. He is Co-founder of Wild Earth Farm and Sanctuary. An avid outdoor adventurer who strives to build common ground and understanding between different walks of life. He believes that plants are a major part in this work to repair ourselves and the earth. He can often be found walking around in the fields and forests discussing voluntary relationships and a future based on community building and joy. 

 

 

Mike Durschmid | Organic Consumers Association

Mike Durschmid currently serves as the Chicago area organizer for Organic Consumers Association, organizing events, exhibits, rallies and speaking engagements covering a wide variety of topics including mandatory labeling for genetically engineered foods, factory farming, and bee colony collapse. He also takes a leadership role with Illinois Right to Know GMO and is a principal organizer of Chicago March Against Monsanto, managing most of the logistics for marches involving thousands of people. He also serves on the organizing committee of Chicago Vegan Mania, and works with Rising Tide Chicago to stop hydraulic fracking in Illinois.

Christina is a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute and chef in New York City, while Elisa studied nutrition and fitness at the University of Pittsburgh. Drawing from their combined experience and Italian American heritage, we are committed to providing nourishing, plant-based meals that promote health and wellness, and use the freshest seasonal, organic and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
